What is AON?
Grades of the Order-
Initiate (First Degree)
Practitioner (Second Degree)
Adept/AON Mage (Third Degree)
While there are general time-lines associated with each grade, members are encouraged to put their focus on acquiring the knowledge, experience, and practical abilities associated with each stage of growth. Even experienced magicians can expect to take their time in progressing through the stages of training. To some small few, the requirements won't seem all that challenging, but even those with years of prior interest can find that there is a lot to learn here. We are not a "diploma mill" and we aren't here to hand out ego-boosts or fake credentials for a fee. We do encourage healthy self confidence, offer respect and encouragement to all members, and treat members at any grade in a manner consistent with the belief that we are all equal on a fundamental human level.
AON is a magical and spiritual fellowship, devoted to bringing together diverse and positively oriented aspirants and experts in the magical arts. While we do have grades, awarded on displayed competence and completion of our rather unique style of magical and spiritual training, these grades are never used to assert dominance or to enforce any social hierarchy beyond the bare minimum to preserve the necessary organizational functions of the Order. In short, while the current head of the Order is the final decision maker regarding the organization's direction and formal activities, we do not encourage presumptions of superiority based on rank in our Order or any other. Indigospeaker and all other members are your equal, on a fundamental human level, and grades exist only to better facilitate the passing of knowledge and skill from one generation of practitioners to the next. All members are encouraged to maintain a balanced and generally loving attitude, which respects each individual's personal and innate value, without seeking to dominate, exploit, denigrate or otherwise disrespect fellow members of our organization, or any other person in general.
Training begins with the Threshold program, which is required prior to membership being offered. The price of Threshold is deducted from first year's dues for those who are both invited, and decide for themselves, to join our Order. See the Dues and Fees for specific info, and click on "Threshold Program" tab above for full details on how the live, web-based training is conducted. Those who Dedicate into AON have ongoing access to regular web-based classes, extra-curricular social events, and advancement to the grade of Initiate upon successful completion of the Dedicate level material. There are no Initiation fees. Once dues are paid, for the quarter or the full year, all regular aspects of Order membership are offered as part of that membership. Each level of training is offered in a cyclical progression of classes, with periodic "introductory" training periods to help new members grasp the fundamentals needed to join in with group education sessions shared by members at various stages of personal progress.
AON utilizes a unique style of spiritual and magical training, primarily formulated by Indigospeaker and considered part of the larger Western Magical Tradition. Its creation was inspired and influenced by the guidance and love of our Mother Goddess, our Father God, and the spirits of the Light who have assisted the magi of each age in attaining the heights of spiritual and magical wisdom. From the strong base of practice in the AON style of ritual magic, advanced practitioners are encouraged to explore many of the known varieties of ancient magic, both in cooperation and fellowship with others in the Order, as well as in their own individual pursuits. The base of training in the early grades is intended both to provide a strong foundation of magical ability, and to provide the kind of wide ranging knowledge which allows for safe and informed exploration of external systems of magic.
While we all have high hopes for the growth of the organization, and eventual founding of Temples within various localities around the world, currently the online Indigo School of Magic is the only avenue by which to approach the threshold of our Order. Follow the link marked "The Threshold Program" for more information on our introductory course, and the opportunity for Dedication into AON which is offered to sincere and positive individuals who complete that course. Other courses are occasionally offered, both to members and to the general public, but these are considered to be outside of the formal training structure of AON. One such offering is our Summer Magical Retreat 2017, which is open to all positively oriented individuals who wish to join in a week of spirituality, healing and blessing arts, relaxing in nature, and a few "light-weight" group rituals to honor the powers of Nature and the Divine. Check out the Summer Retreat tab on the navigation bar at the top of the screen for more information!
One final note: AON is non-sectarian and apolitical. While each individual member (including our founder Indigospeaker) is free to have their own opinions and personal involvements, magical training does not require dogmatic conformity with any particular stance or creed. Yes, we do teach and utilize a particular mixture of philosophies, theologies, and theoretical knowledge to facilitate growth within the arts. No, you do not need to agree with Indigospeaker in all matters to progress. So long as your personal perspective is marked by life-affirming and divinely inspired respect for life and those who live it, your perspectives will be respected. Naturally, Indigo tends to offer his own perspectives in order to help each member expand and advance their own understanding of the universe and skill in the magical arts. No, he is not an egomaniacal, autocratic, "charismatic cult leader". Yes, he can occasionally have a bit of charisma, but even that can be questionable at times! Ultimately, membership in AON requires mutual respect in all directions, regardless of grade or status on the organizational level.
